Hi Rick,

RT> This practice is encouraged by the Department through it "Court
RT> Improvement Program." Workers are specifically encouraged to work
RT> with and "educate" family court judges, attorneys, public defenders,
RT> and others. It has been considered a success to the extent that the
RT> Department has renewed funds for the program.
I can see the program being designed so that all the social workers
work with all the judges and all the attorneys and all the police
officers that are in the field in question. But what about this...
Social Worker Jones ALWAYS works with Police Officer Brown (and
Police Officer Brown is NOT trained in child abuse, but he's
related to Social Worker Jones or he is a foster parent so he
wants to help out the Social Services Department).
Social Worker Jones ONLY goes before Judge Smith (who's wife
just happens to be Social Worker Jones supervisor) or before
Judge Green (who's cousin, a politician, got her appointed to
the chair and after all, it's anti-political to go against the
system).
So when I say they are TEAM players, I don't mean they are all playing
on the same team - as in the corporate office sense - but they are
forming their own little teams of the system against the people.
