DR>JOHN MURRAY spoke thusly to: PAT STIEHM
DR>JM>We have a dual-ring line in our home. (Actually, we have three
DR>JM>numbers on the same line. 1-800 also.) The second ring is for the
DR>JM>fax, and we don't answer it. fax will respond to incoming faxes
DR>JM>AFTER answering machine answers. Some faxes can't handle this, and
DR>JM>we get hangups.
DR> Not only can't the inbound fax's handle that, but many times the
DR>sender will monitor the call and when they hear a machine they will
DR>dump the call, esp. if they don't know that the fax answers after the
DR>machine. I know, I've done that on occasion myself till a friend
DR>clued me in.
DR> Dick
On way I've tried to solve that problem is to give instructions on
sending a fax with the answer machine announcement. That has worked for
me so far.
