SM> Do you work as a programmer?
Yes, as a matter of fact I do. I've been a full time professional
computer programmer for some 27 years, but I've never seen a UNIX box
except during the training course. My certificate, however, says I am a
certified UNIX programmer and I couldn't boot one up.
That doesn't mean that I couldn't review the course work, polish up my
skills, and BECOME a viable UNIX programmer, nor that I don't qualify to
apply for a state government job as an entry level UNIX programmer by
virtue of my training, but I dang sure don't broadcast to the world
that I AM a UNIX programmer because I have some useless certificate in
my desk.
Neither do I tell people that I am a UNIX PC programmer. There are UNIX
programmers and there are PC programmers (I are one now), but there
aren't any UNIX PC programmers 'cause they don't exist.
See the point?

Still a wee bit self ingratiating, (sorta like "domestic engineer"), but
better than "Private LEO".
