Wanna hear a good one, the db that runs the ISP (billing, calls records,
authentication, etc) is running on a software RAID1 mirror setup. I was
going to put it on a RAID5 netserver but I only have a single cpu license
for sqlserver so the second cpu would have been wasted on it.

It takes more than just RAM, mirroring does take a little cpu (like 2%) so
if you run a lot of tasks that max out the cpu at peak disk access times
then I guess it would matter. For a file or web server that's not a problem
but for a db server it can have an effect. However if you are running a P3
