subject: CONNECT String

(( QUOTING = From: Charles Jennings To: Mark Harrison ))
Hello Charles,
 CJ> Does Telix save the CONNECT string returned by the modem at logon?
 Yes and no. Telix knows it as it uses it for it's first
 estimate of a file transfer. No it does not put it in a variable
 for YOU to use. If you really need it you will need to pull it
 out of a status log or capture the number that comes up on the
 screen after a connect. I don't know why they did not give us
 access to that number. However I also don't see a great use for
 knowing it. I have written MANY scripts and have never needed
 it. The only use I can think of is if you wanted to do file
 transfer estimates. I think that code is in the QDHOST.SLT.
 CJ> If so, what is the name of the variable? Is there ANY dirrerences
 CJ> between Dial() and Redial()?
This has come up before and I thought there was but I sure can't
tell you. I looked in both the old and new manual and they look
the same. Maybe someone else can remember.
