SL> GC> I DON'T object to ANY anti-heros EXCEPT in the context of viewing

SL> GC> definition of "anti-hero" becomes VERY broad. Consequently, when
ruce
SL> GC> Willis says, "Yeah, let's nogotiate," then walks out and shoots
SL> GC> everyone down, and asks, "Anyone else wanna nogotiate?" then we
SL> GC> have an anti-hero. Every adult in the theatre chuckles.
SL>WHOA...Beg to dispute...
SL>Willis's part was a bonified HERO...no ANTI about it...
SL>You've taken that scene out of context and distortred it...
I'll take your word for it. To tell the truth I wasn't paying all that
much attention. The movie wasn't doing anything for me...
SL> GC> (escape from L.A. etc.)
SL>What I think you guys are missing is the Roman Circus Element of

SL>(it works)...(for awhile anyway)...
Poppycock. The people have NEVER BEFORE had such access to public
officials and what they are doing. Doesn't stop bureaucrats from doing
stupid things, but it has sure slowed them down and made them gun shy.
The world of 1984 was a one-way surveillance thing. No one seems to be
addressing the fact that we have turned the tables and put the
"eyes" on government. (Because there is nothing to complain about there,
I guess).
Now if we could just get a tv camera into EVERY court room and
government office...
SL>The V chip won't change that, it's basically a sound
SL>idea, but the market will subvert it rather than cater to it...
Anything's possible, of course, but there sure isn't anything else out
there with as much promise.
