Yeah, though they don't yet allow net meetering in Florida. :( It's something
they're "working on", but I think the electric industry here has
always been
somewhat against it for safety reasons, even though there's no such problem
with that nowadays provided the installation is done by the proper people.

I'd love to be able to be off-grid, though. :)

Net metering allowed by Florida Public Service Commission

Yesterday the Florida Public Service Commission made it easier for people
to produce their own power at home and feed it into the electricity grid.
The commission approved rule changes for 'net metering', which means that
the power company will give credit to customers with extra solar or wind
generating capacity for the electricity they share. Gwen Rose is the deputy
director of Vote Solar and told WMNF's Se n Kinane that Florida's new net
metering rules are among the best of any state. 4:30 o.q. "...exact
same kilowatt hour value later on." (1:50) 6pm o.q. "... so it's
pretty exciting." (4:14)That was Gwen Rose, the deputy director of
Vote Solar, speaking with WMNF's Se n Kinane today about yesterday's
Florida Public Service Commission decision to approve rule changes for net
metering.
