Sondra,
I didn't fly fly in a plane until I was 18 at which time the four prop
airplane had two engines that went amuck and shut down. The ocean came later
in life....I didn't see it until I was 22. The first earthquake was the same
year. I lived about a mile from the ocean, when I was awaken in the middle
of the night and had a compellling urge to go to the water. I fought the
urge until about 5 a.m. when I fianlly got dressed and went down to the
beach. I sat there wondering what on earth it was that drew me there. The
sun was rizing and it was particularly beautiful, so I assumed that me be
what the urge was. About that time the earth starting shaking, and I had the
fear of God in me. I grabbed for what I could and held on until the shaking
stopped. When I finaly caught my breath, I relized that I had two hands full
of sand that I had grabbed ahold of.....I ended up laughing, thinking that if
it had been a really serious earthquake, those two handsfull of sand wouldn't
have done me much good as I slipped into the ocean .
