| subject: | Pill to live extra 30 years |
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2005142695,00.html A BRITISH scientist is developing a pill that could add 30 years to the human lifespan. Professor John Speakman has been awarded a £450,000 grant to investigate how the body's metabolism can be altered, extending life. His team at Aberdeen University found mice with a higher metabolic rate live longer. Greater amounts of the hormone thyroxine, produced in the throat, help. It also leads to the production of fewer free radicals which can damage body tissue. Prof Speakman yesterday said human trials could start within a decade. -- Men are everywhere that matters! --- UseNet To RIME Gateway {at} 3/31/05 4:47:58 AM ---* Origin: MoonDog BBS, Brooklyn,NY, 718 692-2498, 1:278/230 (1:278/230) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 278/230 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
