Linux (Suse, Mandriva & Ubuntu) have been spot on for me for the last
couple of years.

I suspect this is already happening because with the exception of the
ndiswrapper stuff for using windows (for me Wifi) drivers the results were
basically identical.

Chuckle as opposed to Vista & any h/w older than 6 months you mean.....

Anyway this seems to becoming a virtuous circle as the more users the more
drivers coz the keener device makers become to make sales to the growing
number etc.

Also I have to say that it's partly being driven by stuff like USB in that
it's often cheaper for the makers of lots of external devices to (a) go
with USB & (b) stay within a given usb device class.

e.g. this xmas I bought my daughter a digi-vidcam & it was simply a usb
mass storage device & worked flawlessly with my linux box & hers.

Hum. Buy clone & you're OK. I have not had any problems with Intel
moBo's...in fact I can't think of the last time I had a problem with a Mobo
including at least 4 very different laptops. Also if you want a good
separate vid card go for Nvidia coz their linux drivers are certainly good
enough for me (inc the 3D desktop stuff etc).

If all Linux buyer buy Nvidia etc then rapidly ATI etc drivers will improve.
