subject: Speech and betas

Hi Fred. I did some experimentation with the new Commo betas and my speech
packages here. Using Artic Business vision which is my original package, I
get no hangups with Commo when leaving the program. With a demo copy of
ASAP, it tends to hang up and cause the speech to make a constant buzzing
sound on leaving Commo. However, when I operate Como in its original
form--not using csmac--there is no trouble. I will contact Chuck to
determine the problem and one of us will let you know.
Thanks.

Kevin,

        The CS-MAC {:exit_} routine has some unusual macro coding in
it, specifically using {wind-k}/{keys}/{menu}/{setg}/{gets} in
combination.

        Try these tests (one at a time) for me if you would.

1. Set %xtime to "0" and exit (should be the same as a regular
        exit from COMMO.MAC)

2. Set %xtime to NUL and exit (this bypasses the odd combo
        named above but includes a trip through {info-d1s0 ...}

        For tests 3 and 4, set %xtime to a numeric value, however
many seconds you want the exit guard to be up (I use 5).

3. At the {:q_t} line, neuter the {info-d1s0 ...} command
        I think this will still buzz after exit

4.      At the {:q_q} line, change to this:  {wind} {exit}
        I think adding the {wind} command will repair the buzz

Carl,
        Here is a short macro menu that lets you quickly change
keyboard emulation:
 {:load_keyb}{setv _menu1,    P  þ  Pine}
         {setv _menu2,    V  þ  VT102}
         {setv _menu3,    2  þ  VT220}
         {setv _menu5,    U  þ  Unload}
         {setv _mlabel,,vt220,,,,,,,,,,,,,,pine,,,,,unlo,vt102}
         {menu 9,,Load Keyboard}
         {}
 {:vt220}{goto ,vt220.mac}
 {:pine} {goto ,pine.mac}
 {:vt102}{goto ,vt102.mac}
 {:unlo} {unlo}
