| subject: | BW Shortcut in Vista |
On or about: 04-23-08 19:58, Tika Carr did engage Jean Parrot regarding,
but not limited to: BW Shortcut in Vista
JP> troubles me ( not much ) is that after I move it to the desktop, it
JP> retains the icon, it is only after I move it to the Office shortcut
JP> bar that it mutes to this "?".
TC> That's because Vista auto-creates the .lnk or .pif, as does previous
TC> versions of Windows. Though I didn't get a bw icon when I tried it. I
TC> had to manually set it.
JP> I have done this routine many times and it still will not keep
JP> the bwave icon as in the folder. Just moving it up to the bar,
JP> changes the icon. Strange when Win98SE,Me and XP allowed this.
TC> That's Vista for ya. :( I think they are trying hard to do away with
TC> DOS yet they really can't fully. I prefer to use a custom toolbar on
TC> the desktop since I don't have Office. I use OpenOffice.org instead.
TC> Free, and compatible with MS Office files.
My first notion, was to drag the BWAVE*.EXE directly from the file manager
- *not* from the desktop - to the Office toolbar. If that might retain the
ICO location, who knows. Then, I thought along your tract, that
"Customize" or
"Settings>Toolbar>Add>blablabla", but more to let Office
deal with the toolbar::icon association from the start, rather than
modifying the existing shortcut. Chances are, Jean will likely have to
sufice with the dumb look of the "?".
TC> ... {ON ERROR}{GO}SCREAM~~
...And I had to laugh like a crazy person, and tell someone about it.
Naturally, you have:
... In /dev/null, no one can hear you scream...
