I would set the speed to 38.4 K with a text file or the onscreen display the 
modem compress the data before it is sent down the phone line for this to 
work you need to set the computer to modem link higher than the line speed.
The modem does have the smarts to connect at a different line speed to the 
modem to computer speed.
I use Telix 3.22 with a 33.6 modem with no problems ver 3.21 has some bugs 
you should look for 3.22 I think it was done as a patch file.
