I guess originally I only heard bad stuff about PSM. I heard psittacosis 
epidemics, and employees that didn't know anythng about the animals they sold 
because they were only paid min wage and furthermore didn't care. However,

here (2, soon to be 3) ARE bright, clean and fairly well informed. A bit 
pricey on some things and very fair on others. I'm spoiled from buying 
wholesale, though... Anyway, a friend of mine that owned birds got a job 
there and worked her way up to fish and bird dept mgr. For every area they 
work and to be eligible for any raises, employees must complete workbooks and 
manuals about the animals and products related to that area.
On the poor management side some of their managers just can't be bothered 
with customers. This is in regards to some former Store mgrs not dept mgrs. I 
was contacted by the store here and asked if I could provide them with birds 
as they were not happy with their current provider in South Fl. They had been 
out of all birds for six or 8 weeks and have been several times since. They 
asked me to hang on while they got approval from corporate and the mgr didn't 
see any reason to expedite matters any. This drug on and I ended up being 
stuck with a lot of birds and taking a loss. I did it because I thought it 
would have been a great account. however, corp never came through with 
approval.
They are still without birds and still use the same breeder.
