-> I currently run a BBS on a Novell 4.11 network. My problem is
-> that the workstation that answers all in coming calls quite often
-> loses connection with the server and it crashes.
You can check the wiring, terminators, etc.... I had a machine here
though which continually disconnected itself after random periods of
inactivity. When I switched mailer programs to one which had a "keep
alive" feature every 2 minutes the problem disappeared... until I
shelled out to DOS - after as few as 5 minutes sitting at a DOS prompt
the network drives were no longer available, requiring a cold boot to
reconnect. Since it was just one workstation and no others experienced
the same problem, I put a spare motherboard I had into use... used
even the same old network card, memory - the machine has been connected
to the network since!
