-> CH> Experimenting with cams is fairly hard core. ->Experimenting in my case means taking it out to a stretch of empty road and ->flogging it to see just what it will do. With winter here, and not wanting ->to burn the crap out of my snow tires I don't know if my perception that the ->truck is slower is just me, or the cam. SOTP comparison tells me I am a lot ->slower now. Hmm. Did you notice if the power band moved up or down? I wonder if it's too much cam for the carb/ports/compression? ->You wouldn't have access to an older Wolverine-Blueracer catalog would you? ->If you do, could you take a look and see if theres any cam part number that ->resembles 1137 AI? Thats my original cam, and if I can ID it, I'll at least ->have something to compare to. I spent some time with Google, and only found a Tech Line number for Wolverine: 517-523-3611 8a-5p Eastern time. A lot of references to the brand, but no web site with specs found. J.C.Whitney lists the cams, but with their own part number. Useless. -> CH> So, what's next on the list? I know you like Q-Jets, but the GM TBI -> CH> is pretty good. ->Funny you should mentioned the tbi system, I've had that bug put in my ear ->very recently. It certainly looks like a very doable, easy swap to perform. ->And having been spoilt by the GM, fuel injection is a more realistic option ->for me to consider. Know of any 454 tbi units? with sensors and harness? =- I'm looking for a 454 throttle body myself. Been slowly collecting parts for a 366 BBC I found. Got pistons, bearings, gasket set and a bunch more stuff. Even scored a TBI intake for a tall deck, which the 366 is. Need the throttle body next. eBay has them, but they end up going for $150US or so. Not worth it for a used (misused?) piece. ->Hows the weather been where you are? How much snow have you gotten? News ->reports make it seem like the end of the world came and went, but since news ->tends to type everything up somewhat... We had a storm last week that left a foot of snow. No problems. Roads cleared, no panic in the streets. ->Currently we're about 10 below freezing, with night time temps dipping furth ->no snow within the past week, but did get around 8" last weekend. Supposedly ->we'll be hoving around the freezing point in the coming week. Our high has been at or below freezing for much of the past month. Low is quite a bit below freezing. All in all, a normal winter - for about 30 years ago. The past couple of decades has been mild and dry. Many ski resorts have had a bad time of it until this year. -c- --- ViaMAIL!/WC v1.60d* Origin: Chowdanet (401-331-0615) telnet://chowdanet.com (1:323/120) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 323/120 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
