I have some sympathy for those systems where disk space is a priority, and
I'm prepared to believe that a "message database" might be quicker than
*.MSG. My only concern is that people not dismiss *.MSG out of hand and
presume, out of technical elitism or plain misunderstanding, that there's
little or no interest for it anymore. It works wonderfully for me and for
others I know. As you said, there are plenty of utilities for it and the
level of risk would seem to be less than that for a message database.
There remain those of us who are quite happy with *.MSG, and have no interest
in switching. I hope that whatever a new Opus does, it retains compatibility
with that format. It would be a shame, after sticking with Opus through thick
and thin, to finally have to consider changing for these reasons (not that
I've yet heard anybody claim that the new bird won't continue to support
*.MSG).
