Dear Marj,
    Hello, have we comunicated before?
Yes, i can tell you about pn basketry [and even snail you an
instruction sheet] but i must disagree with the lady that said that 6-8
inch needles were ideal. I woud say that the 8 inch ones are the
minimum and ideal is 12-14. I have even worked with 20-24 inchers. I
don't like them as there is to much sticking out to break off between
work sessions.
This is a coiled basket system. If you would like the instruction
sheet , i will send it. Meantime you can begin to gather your needles.
If you choose to use ground gather, you have a big task on your hands.
[ I use needles that i get green from where a tree has been cut down.
That way, i can use 95 out of 100 needles in mmy pkt] With ground
gather, i findthat, only 5 out of 100 is useful. The needles must be
gathered, put all the same direction [lined up] and dried. I gather
them into pkts with yarn or rubberbands. With the green ones, about 3
wks are need for them to dry. Whether you do them in sun or shad will
effect the eventual color. It is also possible to turn them chocolate
brown.
Let me know how you are coming with your gathering, and i will send
you the instruction sheet.
     Shalom, ll
