|-----------------| Regarding Duke 3D
|I have a 'minimum spec.' machine (486dx2/66, 8mb RAM, SB16). The
|shareware version ran really smoothly, albeit with reduced sound quality
|and a slightly smaller screen size. However, the full retail version
|(including my own levels) do not seem to run as well and are very 'jerky'.
|I was just wondering if the code had been 'Pentium optimised' or something
|causing a reduced performance on anything less.
What kind of video do you have? If you have plain ISA, that would
explain it. On a 486, VESA or PCI LOCAL BUS video is almost essential
for smooth game play.
|Secondly, the Build engine. Whilst I appreciate the fact that you have
|included it (thanks again :-) ), it would have been nice if you could
|have taken a little time to explain how to create doors, lifts, etc. You
I'm sorry, but it's provided "as is". Get on the net, there's a pile of
Duke web pages, some with very excellent FAQ's on using Build.
|One final thing, whilst I have you attention. I don't suppose there
|will be any futher instalments of ROTT, will there?
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
We did publish something called Extreme Rise of the Triad. It had 42
new levels for DarkWar (I designed 15 of them!), as well as 3 level
editors, maps, and other cool stuff on it. We sell it direct for
$19.95.
