Dale, top of the morning to you !
DS> I am not looking forward to moving to Vista.
I got this Vista, Home-Basic only, after I got this new Acer,
I tried to buy it with XP on it but the dealer would not hear any
argument. It is not that bad, the Basic is just a glorified XP, no
Aero at all and that is fine.
DS> On my screen, 24 pts is only about half of full screen, but plenty
DS> big enough -- you must not have much real estate on your Acer.
DS> What is the screen size and resolution you have it set to?
I got included, this 19" wide screen, actually 14" x 10" for a
1.4 ratio so I run it at 1280 x 800 to help my eyes. Since I got
two new lenses in my eyes last summer, I can see the screen without
any eyeglasses but it is easier at this resolution as opposed to
the full capability of 1440 X 900 that this Acer screen. As a
matter of fact, I do not use any glasses any more, just for reading
as these lenses are of fixed focus, obviously.
You are right about the Acer being a very basic system but it
runs fine for what I do. The price also was right...$499.00
including the screen, the keyboard the mouse too. All is "on board"
vidcard, NIC. It has a 250 G HD, 2 G RAM of 667 rate, FSB is at
800. So very basic, these days.
Have a Happy Easter.
... I finally got TI to work on my Vista.
... Peace of mind now, three back ups.
