Have known people like that. Work with some in the world of ham radio
every day. One of them's a very welcome addition
when I"ve got an antenna work party going on out here. HE
may not be able to climb, but he can sure hold a rope, and
he's damned handy with a soldering iron or other tools down
on the ground.

My lady is one. She can walk short distances out of the
wheelchair, often uses a walker, because the diabetic
neuropathy means she can't feel her feet. WE also carry
oxygen tanks for her when she must be away from her oxy
concentrator any length of time.
SHe'll do a lot of things that surprise people at the time,
and deal with the pain later. OFtentimes when she's
starting to overdo it in the interest of getting some task
done I'll endeavor to take the load on myself, because even
with the pills she'll be waking me up with the cries in the
night from the pain.
I'm passing no judgments on the veracity of claims made
recently in this echo folks, btw. Just helping to point out that
oftentimes until one has walked a mile in the shoes one doesn't know
everything there is to know.
Regards,
Richard
