FR><< Aren't all the bad things one might do with a gun already illegal?

FR>Well not actually if you think about it for a second. Accidents are not
alwa
>illegal. There have been several deadly incidents lately in our area where
>young children have gained access to loaded weapons. But, you are
robably
>against gun locks too aren't you.
Even one accident is too many, but some things are unavoidable in a
free society. Firearms accidents have decreased dramatically in the
last 40-50 years as the number of guns in this country has increased
four fold. If we denied everyone the freedom to own and drive cars we
could eliminate auto accident deaths too.
FR>But, in any case, the HCI statement was pretty clear. They want to keep
guns
>out the hands of crimminals, they want to shut down illegal gun sales,
hey
>want crimes committed with guns to be agressively prosecuted, and the
method
>that the gun was obtained by the crimminal investigated. Which of these
goal
>are you against?
To penalize gun crimes to a greater extent than non-gun crimes is
ridiculous and is an area where I disagree with NRA policy too (even
though I am a life member). I feel that murder or armed robbery to
give 2 examples, are equally heinous if committed with weapons other
than firearms. Never understood the logic (if there is any) in those
crime with a gun laws. Just more feel-good, sound-good legislation
that does nothing to improve the human condition .
