MG - It's not that I'm against the concept of messing around with time, or
including it in a story....
JM - I've never quite comprehended the concept of a temporal cold war as
relates to Star Trek. If you eliminate your enemies by going back in time
to whack them before they become a threat, aren't you, according to most
concepts of temporal physics, creating an alternate timeline in which to
dwell? It's my understanding that current quantum theory precludes
traveling into your own past.
I wrote "Dreamtime" years ago, and plan "Unspoken Wyrd"
in just a few months, but these both use the "linear time"
theory---that time has one main line and doesn't really branch off, which
makes a temporal cold war and changing history serious shit.
Star Trek uses *both* of these concepts interchangeably, which is why it
gets so convoluted.
