I know, I vote libertarian.  I have no belief in the

THe citizenry first needs to do a better job of educating
itself imho.  TOo many people snooze through civics and
other such classes .  The system of checks and balances
we have *can* work, if we let it.

Agreed.  wHich is why I've been thumbing my nose at both
majors the last three decades now.

OF course it is.  IN many cases their jobs outsourced to
former third world countries or replaced by technology.
LIttle incentive to get retrained to enter the new service
economy because the jobs they can get after retraining won't provide them
enough to be self supporting.

Imho there's only one thing keeping the whole damned thing
from becoming a gigantic powder keg, and that's apathy.
Easier to sit around and stare at reality tv.
