I'm curious as to why you didn't just use some Comm or Protocol package.
It seems like it would have been easier.
Was it done due to licensing fees or did you just want to write your
own?
You could have used PPL4C from MarshalSoft Computing (?) without any
royalties, just the one time purchase fee.  It includes source for X, Y,
and Zmodem.  Also, I saw in DDJ a combined X/Y modem protocol driver
that automatically detected which format it was.
