and Flew a number of Envelopes (Covers) on the Third Mission
of the Space Shuttle Challenger launched August 30, 1983.
This is a True Collectors Item.

Description:
The envelope features the $9.35 Express Mail Stamp
(a rarity by itself) Canceled "SPACE MAIL, ORBITED VIA
STS-8, 25th NASA Anniversary 1958 - 1983.
Three round Cancellations also appear.
"KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL AUG 14 1983"
"LAUNCHED AUG 30 1983"
"RETURNED TO EARTH EDWARDS AFB, CA SEP 5 1983"
On the left there is a Colorful Round Cachet picturing
the Challenger in Flight with the Words:
"CHALLENGER" near the center, and
"TRULY BRANDENSTEIN GARDNER BLUFORD THORNTON"
the names of the Shuttle Crew around the border of the
circle.
On back, There is an authenticating serial number a colorful
25th Anniversary banner and a second round
"RETURNED TO EARTH EDWARDS AFB, CA SEP 5 1983" cancellation.
Other Technical Facts:
These Envelopes where Flown in the Challenger's Cargo Bay in
"GAS" Containers.
They Traveled a distance of 21,000,000 Miles
Orbit Velocity: 17400 Miles per Hour
Altitude: 184 statute miles above Earth's Surface.
