I checked out 'asian' section yesterday and nothing like you mention was 
there.  Lots of soy sauces and stuff like that, but nothing designed to 
flavor rice per se.

However we do have a very large asian market out on Clairemont mesa that 
has all kinds of things you would like - squid, octopus, stuff like that 
and I'll bet money they have the rice flavoring too.  I know they sell rice 
in 100 pound bags so odds favor they would carry the flavoring?

I admit I look at a lot of the stuff they sell and have no idea just what 
it is, and no way would I eat it!  :)
