RS>-> Which program?
RS>I haven't looked at how they work yet, but I was thinking of either
RS>Faxlink, since I have two copies that came bundled with my modems
RS>(probably not all that great since they were bundles) or WinFaxPro which
RS>I've had for a while, lost the books, and now am not sure if memory will
RS>serve me in setting it up again! :)
I've never heard of Faxlink. Do you know who mwkes it. WinFaxPro, by
Delrina, is another matter. I've never actually used it. I have used
its "little sister" WinFaxLite. For a "lite" program it did very well.
In fact, it did so well for my purposes, I never felt light I needed the
"big sister", WinFaxPro. DosFax, also by Delrina, is another matter. I
was very disappointed by it. I'm told however, that they don't make it
any more.
RS>I hope someone else will jump in if I'm off the mark on this, but I
RS>think something in the line of a line sharing device (Comshare for
RS>instance) would do the trick. Normally the fax machine that originates
RS>the call will send out tones as it waits for the answering party to pick
RS>up, as opposed to modems that dial and then stay silent until the
RS>answering modem sends an answer tone to initiate handshaking. I believe
RS>the line sharing devices will sense the incoming fax call because of the
RS>originating fax's tone and route the call to your fax machine or fax
RS>program. If it doesn't sense the originating fax tone, it assumes either
RS>modem or voice call and routes it the other way. That way if you're in
RS>host mode and a fax call comes in, the line sharing device should route
RS>a fax call to your fax before the call even gets to your computer modem.
The fax machine I am using requires a five second delay after the
answering machine "picks up" to "listen" for the other fax. If it
doesn't "hear" any thing it does nothing. If it "hears" the other fax
it over rides the answering machine, takes over and receives the fax. I
works very well. Suggestion -- try you bunddled program and see how it
works. I think you might be supprised. Let me know.
RS>Great, warm and muggy, wet, and from what I've heard maybe in for some
RS>storms as the east coast has had too. How is it in your neck of the
RS>woods? Haven't been that way in 6 years. I miss the changing seasons!!
You don't have an exclusive on warm and muggy. We too have our share of
the that kind ow weather. The Huricans haven't helped the last couple
of weeks. We had lots flooding. Some of the worst of it has been
within a few miles of my home. It was real nice yestday. A kind of
preview of fall you might say. Fall here is the best time of the year
and it lasts forever or at least until after Thanksgiving.
Well talk to you soon.
