feeder can be a full time occupation. Don't have quite so much
squirrel problem now that my neighbors cat is out in the back
yard a lot. Fortunately the cat hasn't been bothering the birds
or the garden.
I got a nice shield by rubbermaid at Builders Square. It's
mounted below the feeder on the pole. It can also be mounted
above a hanging feeder. It acts like those shields they use on
boats to keep rats from climbing the ropes from the dock.
Get a fresh batch of squirrels every year, but I also get
a fresh batch of hawks. They usually leave me with one or two
squirrels. They do OK on the seed the birds toss out of the
feeder.
I finally saw a bird that wasn't red or blue. Kind of
yellow/green. Size of a sparrow. Maybe some kind of finch?
My first yellow wild bird. I hope he comes back.
