I've asked this one before, and the answers I have been given
dont work!!!
What I want to do is to print some labels, all the same, on 3-1/2
inch wide by 1 inch high address labels which come in a strip on
a backing with sprocket holes for the printer. OK so far?
THE PROBLEM: To print on 3.5 x 1 inch strip labels.
ATTEMPT #1: In GeoWrite, I cannot reduce my borders below 0.25
inch. This means I lose a total of 50% of the height of the
labels. Not satisfactory, so I didn't even bother to try
printing.
ATTEMPT #2: In GeoDraw, I can reduce the margins to zero. I set
the page size to 3.5 inch wide, 1 inch high, all margins = 0.
I then design my label to fit in a text box 3.25 in wide, and
0.75 in high, carefully positioned so that it sits exactly 1/8
inch from the edges of the dosument. All OK, no problems.
I tell it to print 10 copies, and I select "Options" and set
paper size to 3.5 inch width, 1 inch height, paper source
"Tractor", then select "OK" and "Print".
I get the message that the drawing won't fit on the page,
options Scale to fit, Leave it same size, or cancel.
If I select Leave it the Same Size, it trims about 1/8 inch off
the bottom and right hand side of my label, which you remember
was already 1/8 inch in from the edge of the page, so its
forcing a 1/4 inch border on those sides.
If I select Scale to Fit, it reduces my label down to almost
exactly half size which is quite useless.
I can use other programs that WILL print on this size of label,
but they allow only the standard fonts internal to the EPSOM. I
would like to use Geos, with fancy fonts and drawings on the
labels.
What is the answer? Can GeoWrite be made to work with zero
margins? Can GeoDraw be made to print CORRECTLY with zero
margins?
Greg
BTW, the printer is Epsom LX-400. I am using the EPSOM LX-400
driver.
