Well brother, you ain't alone. I started in 1974 at a Funeral Home &
Ambulance. Did the funeral stuff first for about 4 months, then got a
part-time job in Pittsburgh with the Coroners Office. Saw alot over the
next two months, since we responded right to where the action is, so I
decided to give the ambulance a whirl at the "home." Fell i nlove with
it from the word go. Got my EMT while working there for four years. Then
went to work in a hospital as an EMT/orderly while I attended paramedic
training under Nancy Caroline M.D. herself!
I worked up until late last year when a local ambulance outfit here
shafted me and the rest of the original staff in our county. They took
over running the system, (and everyone wonders why I hate privatization)
and got rid of all of us for their own people. So now I'm in R.N.
school, working on both my EMS and own people. So now I'm back in
college working on my EMS degree, and getting all the other stuff out
of the way so I can go thru RN training, and have two degrees. Then I'm
back with a vengence!
Have a good one!
