RP>real argument with that -- only with going around saying "Nobody needs
RP>to write programs", a remark I heard all too often even at the senior
RP>high school level by teachers who were frankly too damn lazy to learn
RP>to program themselves.
Why should all (or even most) teachers in today's schools have a need to
learn to program? In the current state of the schools, I'd think it
would be far more productive for such teachers to learn to use
application software that would help them in teaching their subject
matter, and if we could say that even 50% of today's teaching staff
could do _that_ it would be an improvement over the current situation.
