MM>Help me understand your message a little better. You advocate that:
MM>1. The tongues spoken in Acts 2 were Hebrew and the Holy Ghost translate
>them into others' languages?
Yes. As those words entered their ears, the Spirit of YaHshua did open
their understanding to the Hebrew tongue, as if it were their own language.
Hebrew had not been commonly spoken for centuries. Only a few of the
"intellectuals" of those days knew, at least, how to read it. The Apostle
Paul was one of them. The commoners, such as the Galileans, did not know
the sacred language. They spoke in Aramaic, a language simular to Hebrew,
yet different in many ways.
MM>2. That speaking in tongues as practiced in the Pentecostal movement is
>of the devil?
There are many sincere believers, who unwittingly practice a deceptive type
of tongues. I was one of them. I saw the harm of this deception. It almost
destroyed me. People speaking in tongues (to prophecy) had me going to
Nome, Alaska, where I was to be martyred for Jesus. My ministry was to save
countless thousands. It was said that I was His "seed". In tongues it was
told how perfectly I performed the works of the Almighty. Then, after I
quit my job, said goodbye to my family, and packed up all my earthly
processions preparing to leave out, I was brought into the church so as to
be prayed over. One of the same "prophetesses" who had been directing this
for a year, spoke another prophecy (so-called), stating that it was all only
a test. And, that I had passed it marvelously. I had suffered greatly
because of all this. I believed that I was going to die! I said goodbye to
my family believing that I would never see them again. They were confused
by the whole thing. I WAS JUST A KID! I had to go away to collect myself.
When I returned, I had nowhere to live. I stayed in a small 22 ft.
pull-along camper behind the church until I could figure out what was going
on. I was scarred. Within a few short months, I was being accused of
trying to take over the church. I was told that I was not of the Almighty.
I was asked to leave.
How can one go from being the Saviours perfect child (their words) to not of
God the next? I was ordained by them "a full fledge minister" 7 months
after I went to the alter. Great pressure was placed upon me to perform.
All this was done because of the speaking in tongues, and due to false
prophecies. I don't blame the ones who prophesied. They were taught that
they were obeying the Spirit. Yet, they themselves
doubted.
So, Does the Almighty use tongues to edify, or destroy? Does His words go
forth, then return to Him void? Is He not Wisdom, as opposed to
foolishness? You may think that I have based my whole disapproval of the
tongues movement on this bad experience in my life. But I have seen it time
and time again in various tongue speaking denominations. It took me nearly
20 years to get over the hurt of that deception, and I am still suffering
because of it. My life will never be the same, because for years, I hoped
that the prophecies (theirs) would come to fruitation. I have no career, or
family because of it. I was told in prophecy utilizing the deceptive tongues
movement, that I was not to marry. How trustful I was! This movement
controlled me. It possessed me! But I thank my Saviour, YaHshua the
MessYaH, that He had mercy upon me and brought me out, so that I could think
freely and clearly.
MM>Let me tell you where I'm coming from. I am Holiness, Pentecostal
>(Trinitarian). I have never been involved in the Charismatic movement,
>itself. We prefer the older-fashioned ways.
I was Holiness, Pentecostal (Oneness). I have seen it all! I was also
involved in the older-fashioned ways.
MM>I will state that I believe there ARE imitations in some churches. For
>every real thing, there is an imitation--even where salvation is
>concerned.
MM>Yet, there ARE genuine, Holy Ghost-filled people in the Charismatic and
>Pentecostal churches. There IS a reality in the baptism of the Holy
>Ghost, as evidenced in speaking in tongues.
There are Spirit filled people who do not speak in the none edifying
tongues. People who really know the love and wisdom that is of our Saviour.
In John 20:22 it reads:
"And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto
them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost."
I did not here them jabbering in unintelligible tongues. Please don't say
that they didn't, at that time, receive the Holy Ghost. They received the
Holy Ghost many times throughout their ministry. Whenever YaHshua need to
do a specific work in them, the Holy Ghost fell upon them again. People
tell me that they got the Holy Ghost 39 years ago. I want to know what they
got today.
"And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of
Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with
the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said,
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Sovereign
should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy
salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb
for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall
be a performance of those things which were told her from YaHVaH."
(Luke 1:41-45.)
