One of the things we do is a bird feeder pole. We also have lots of squirrels
here. We save cooking grease of the sort we dont wanna eat (chicken fat etc)
and use it to grease the bird feeder pole to keep the squirrels from
climbing.
A common sound here is a soft plushy 'plump' as one tries to climbe the pole,
and falls down.
It's not only hilarous to watch, but totally safe as it's all food grade
stuff (kept in the fridge).
I have glossy coated squirrels. Do you? If not, squirrel lovers will cal
you a meamie and turn you in to the local SPCA for squirrel abuse!
A few weeks ago I was typing on COOKING echo and heard the distinct 'plump'
as a fat assed squirrel failed to climb the pole. Cat and dog going nuts
watching. Squirrel just looking over and going 'them again, glass door
between us' as he licked his paws of that chicken fat.
