Genetically of course you are right, but it is the mother who carries the
child for nine months and gives birth to it.
How her body nourishes the foetus, and the substances she may ingest, are
very important.

The father's job is to protect, feed and support her during pregnancy and
lactation. Not all males seem to understand that today.  Nor do some
"feminists"!
