There was a funny video on the net a year or so ago how ingenious
squirrels are. There was a bird feeder hanging from a branch that was
rigged to keep the squirrels out. In theory.
One went up a tree, managed to get over to the other. There was a, oh,
what's the name of that thing? Ships have them to keep rats off mooring
lines... on the feeder tree and they couldn't get around it.
Anyway, the squirrel would leap and jump here and there and all around
and land on the feeder, lose its balance and back to the ground it went.
I have watched squirrels climb telephone poles, run across the wire and
down the other side to cross busy streets.
One time I was reserving some spaces on a lot for some big wigs coming to
campus. Babies had been born recently and one came up to where I was
looking for a hand out. But quickly mama was on the scene yelling at her
offspring to keep away from humans. He was a cute little thing.
We had one on campus that had a missing tail.
But they are fun to watch.
  Joe
