BK>>>> Heinlein was wrong about a lot of things. Wrote good SF, but his
BK>>>> politics were a bit screwed up.
BA>>> Only to you collectivists. Heinlein was a big believer in
BA>>> freedom and INDIVIDUAL liberty. *You* are not.
BK>> That comes under the heading of, "A mile wide but an inch
deep."
BK>> It just demonstrates you know nothing about what I believe in.
BK>> Pro-lifers believe in a lot of restrictions on individual
BK>> freedom. Which means you need to be a democrat.
BA> Horse sh*t. I have more intelligence. Not all pro-lifers
BA> are Republicrooks and not all Democrooks are pro-choice.
Gee... you noticed. I've been pointing that out for a long time.
BA> Besides, there are more choices in the political spectrum
BA> than Republicrooks and Democrooks.
None that are significant.
BK>> Anti-gays don't have much belief in individual freedom at all.
BA> ANd your point is, what? Anti-smokers don't believe in
BA> individual freedom, nor do the animal rights fanatics and
BA> PETA.
As long at they don't try to impose their beliefs on your
private life, no problem.
BK>> I believe in freedom of religion, and freedom from religion,
BK>> which puts me one freedom up on the right.
BK>> I believe in freedom of speech, even when I don't agree with
BK>> what is said, which puts me one freedom up on the Tea Party.
BK>> I believe in freedom to live your own life as long at you don't
BK>> harm others. That puts me one freedom up on most people.
BA> You believe in heavily punishing successful people with
BA> taxes,
If you believe taxes are punishment, you must be an anarchist,
or a glutton for punishment.
BA> you believe in discriminatory ("progressive") tax
You believe in discriminator (regressive) taxs.
BA> rates. You don't believe people should be free to hold a
BA> job without belonging to or paying dues to a labor
BA> organization.
Now you are getting into your inch deep portion. I have posted,
over and over, if employers treated their employees decently
labor unions wouldn't even exist.
And that would be perfectly acceptable. Oh, and every union
member, including union officers, I have said this to agreed
with me.
BK>> I also believe in a responsibility as part of our social
BK>> structure, to contribute to maintaining our social structure.
BK>> That seems so obvious it should not require defending.
BA> That does depend on how one defines those terms, doesn't it?
Yeah, but first you have to get past the idea that
responsibility is bad.
BK>> I believe the freedom to keep and bear arms requires the
BK>> obligation to learn to do so responsibly. Which puts me on two
BK>> sides of a freedom, depending on which side you stand on.
BK>> If Heinlein really believed in what he appeared to, he could
BK>> stand by and watch a child die and not believe anyone was
BK>> obligated to do anything.
BK>> Libertarianism doesn't seem to believe in much of anything.
BA> The information is out there. Reason magazine is one
BA> source, although it is not sponsored by the party and is
BA> not a party organ.
Is Reason Magazine the authority on the subject?
BK>> Libertarians seem to believe in whatever is convenient for them.
BK>> No thanks, I prefer a moral philosophy based on some actual
BK>> principles.
BA> The Libertarian party is the only one in the country that
BA> has principles - and lives by them.
See the tagline.
