I've never eaten a ripe fig. I've only had the preserved
ones you see in the stores, sorta like dates.
I understand I'm missing a treat.
I'll have to invite you and Kat over when the fruit ripens. The
figs are probably a different variety. they aren't what I was
expecting. They have a kind of purple color and are a tad
squishy. The flesh is kind of like a dry plum. Very sweet.
The leaves all wither and drop off after the fruit is gone.
The first year, I thought it was a fungus, so sprayed it with
copper, but it does it every year and stays bare thru the
"winter". It's plenty healthy now.
