| subject: | Latest CVS Max and docs |
The good news is that the latest CVS Maximus that my system
compiled on 05/09/2004 compiled nicely but I have a few usage
questions
1. How do I use it for telnet? What I mean is the stock runbbs.sh
script (I had to add a line because it never wiped an old lock file
out is as follows. Here is the important part
while /bin/true
do
[ -f "${PREFIX}/die.now" ] && break
bin/max -w -b38400 -n0 -p4002
sleep 1
rm /var/lock/LCK..ttyS4001
done
Now from what I know it sets the TCPIP port to 4002. When its running
and I telnet localhost 4002 it never connects up.
Second is now that it supposibly supports Com ports as well.
how much has the documentation changed to deal with Unix/Linux serial
ports? For testing I want to try it on /dev/ttyS2 (its my second modem
I use for testing without messing up my Synchronet/Binkleyterm
system.)
Thirdly. the above loop does not seem to deal with a normal
Alt-X for exit. Does this Unix version use the same type of exit codes
as the msdos version does? I know how to deal with Unix exit codes but
I am surprised that the script uses an endless loop instead of having
aty least one option to exit out. This would be vital if I were to
fire this off from Binkleyterm XE via /usr/bin/spawnbbs
Last question and this could be important for some. If the
demo runbbs.sh sets the port for TCP/IP to 4002. then why can't I
connect when I telnet via:
telnet localhost 4002
I get connection refused.
