DP> I am looking for anything and everything that will keep squirrels out
DP> of my garden. I've already lost one pepper plant and several leaf
DP> lettuce seedlings to the little varmint. They tried to do a number on
DP> my chives too but, they're in a pot so I just placed rocks on top of
DP> the soil and that's keeping them away. But I fear for my pepper and
DP> tomato plants. Anyone have any suggestions?
Are they eating the plants or just digging them up? I've not had
squirrels eat plants, but they like to dig and uproot, and also
dig in my pots! They are hard to control. They don't like hot
pepper so a dusting of that or a spray might deter them. But
squirrels are real clever! Trying to keep one out of a bird
feeder can be a full time occupation. Don't have quite so much
squirrel problem now that my neighbors cat is out in the back
yard a lot. Fortunately the cat hasn't been bothering the birds
or the garden. Sorry I wasn't much help.
