A full quarter of my heritage is pure Southern... Grandmother was
Virginian, her ancesters were Virginian and Carolinian (both N & S). 
And we lived for more than 7 years south of the M-D line (3 1/2 in MD, 4
in MS) when I was growing up.  Plus, with Granddad off to sea (career
Navy), Grandmother's sisters and family helped her raise her boys, so
Daddy was more southern than not.

So... I had some exposure to proper thinking...
