I have little confidence in the reasoning behind "The Bell Curve" as it
seems to sponsor some kind of racism or sexism in the very premise. If
groups of people score differently, it is more likely a social phenom
than an innate brain difference. We are, after all, more alike than
different.
That's a stupid statement.

We also have extreme sexism from birth when girls are pink and boys are
blue. We tend to meet the mental stimulation and challenges our
parents and teachers want for us.
And what you're capable of.

The reason fewer females sink to the bottom is that there is always some man
to bail her out. Or male surrogate like the government.

Since more women than men have been denied equal treatment it is hardly
surprising that more men than women excel. That more women are raised
to be docile
Well if you think females are docile you obviously live in your own little
world with grandpappy and the cats.
than men it is also more likely that those women will tend
to accept mediocrity.

It also takes a world where expectations based on sex/gender are easily
challenged. And, why should girls be expected to do more to get as
much?
People rise to the level nature intended them to. There are many men who
have had severe disabilities from birth and have risen to great heights.
It takes more than pen and paper; it takes being able to leap over tall
buildings erected against them because of their sex.
Is it worse than being paralysed from birth?
But, I'm not
worried; women are in the process of doing just that. They are
breaking down the barriers, and then I wonder what you'll say. :-)
I'll say that the more things change the more they stay the same. Even if we
bred sterile females and manufactured babies, females would still be the
same. In fact, without the drive to reproduce females would have no sex
drive. And using an argument like, "but what about females past child
bearing years, don't they still want sex"? Very few do. And the ones that do
still have the memory imprinted in their brains. Brains haven't caught up
with their body yet.

Sure. What woman also held that same position at that time? :-)
Any one that was capable. All 3 haha

Indeed, men supporting men, supporting men, ad nauseum. Well, boys
your time is coming to an end. see:

The struggle of women to be treated as equals in mathematics was long
and arduous. In the eighteenth and into the nineteenth centuries,
women were not allowed to attend or take classes at a university,
Why didn't they found their own University? Many females had their own
money, from daddy of course. The only time their money may have been in
peril is if they married. Even that wasn't really a problem since females
with money also had good lawyers (daddy's) who drew up marriage settlements
and trusts to protect them. And after the married woman's act in the late
1800's there was no problem for the masses of females owning her own
property.
let
alone teach or hold any chair at an academy. It was difficult for a
woman to be recognized under these social circumstances.
Oh females wanted attention?
The most
successful method was subterfuge, adopting a male persona. Germain, de
Châtelet, and Ada Lovelace
she related to Linda?
all did this in some form, whether it was
dressing as a man
like Yentl haha
to gain access to a café or signing work using a
male name or initials.
Those female authors in the 1800's used male names because they were dykes
and really wanted to be men. Did the Bronte sisters use a male name? Did
Jane Austin use a male name?
Even at the end of the nineteenth century, when
girls were beginning to be treated equally and educated in math,
Erm, in the late 19th century the average male AND female didn't go much
past grammar school.
inherent male prejudices still created problems for female
mathematicians. Kovalevskaya and Noether, both equipped with
Ph.D.'s, still had tremendous difficulty finding positions at any
university. The struggle of women mathematicians was long and hard.
They had to overcome general stereotypes
Stereotypes are generally true.
about women's inferior
intellect and find a means to educate themselves. Those that managed
made great contributions to the world of math and related areas and
proved that women are just as intelligent and capable as men.
No old girl. It only proves that a handful of females are almost at the male
level.
The true
test for these women was battling social prejudices to be recognized
for their work.
Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat its way to your door:o)
This difficult task was only managed by a few
extraordinary women, and they earned their place among the famous
mathematicians in history.
Actually, never heard of those 2. What did they actually do? Do tell
hahahahaa
