        Hi John,

I can't tell you which is the best, or how much it will cost, but
if you care to use the tagger to search for PCC (because I can't remember
the full name of the archive) you will find a shareware compiler I uploaded
a little while back. PCC is quite old and non-standard but it will allow
you to try out C without having to fork out any money. If you like the
language you can always get a commercial compiler later, if you want. If
you do try PCC and have any problems I just might be able to help, as I've
been using it for a couple of years now.

                John
