Replying to a message of Ross Cassell to Ross Sauer: RC> Hello Ross! RC> 13 Dec 10 22:51, you wrote to mark lewis: ml>>> so, how is it impossible for someone to have learned to be and ml>>> been classified as a weapons tech in less than 65 days??? RS>> No one has said they were a "full fledged" weapons mechanic. RS>> I said I was going through training. RS>> And if somebody wiped the windshield of an A-10, they did work on an RS>> A-10. RC> My father worked for the NSA, which its HQ was on the US Army Base at RC> Fort Meade Maryland. Heh. I was stationed there in 1963-64, spent a week or so there in 1971 trying to get my orders straightened out (while I'd been *stationed* on Okinawa, my parent unit and servicing personnel office was the 6970th Support Group at Fort Meade, and they issued the orders). After 13 amendments to them, the orders read the way they'd originally been written . RC> They used to run an open house for the employee's and their families, RC> including showing off army tanks and other machinery native to the RC> base. Fort Meade used to be the headquarters for the Army's 11th Cavalry. In 1964 that division rotated from Germany back to Fort Meade - and six or seven months later was shipped to Saigon. So much for several years of stateside duty... They used to have at least one functional WW II vintage M-4 Sherman on display there. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 620 848 @PATH: 300/3 116/901 3634/12 123/500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
