| subject: | Noachide Transform...(Halloween) |
> Mulling over Phil Hansford to Steve Asher 20 Nov 2004 > Hi Phil! >>> 3. Noachides may not observe any religious holidays outside the >>> rabbinical traditions of Torah -- most especially including such >>> Christian holidays as X-mas, Easter, Halloween, All Saint's Day, Good >>> Friday, Ash Wednesday, and probably even the "new year" (January 1st). >>> Alien religious holidays are forbidden even under the minimum of the >>> Noachide code; these are violations of the commandment against >>> idolatry. > (snip) >>> The "Christians" around these parts threw a fit when it fell on a >>> Sunday this year. I believe they think of it more as a Pagan, or >>> even Satanic, holiday. >> I would agree, and I suspect that pagans & wiccans would see it as "their" >> day. Whether satanists identify with it or not, I don't know. I certainly >> don't identify with it, but I wouldn't want anyone beheaded for celebrating >> it, whoever they are. >> Oh come on... Most Pagans and Wiccans I know are not fond of >> Halloween. It is, after all, very insulting to them. Here in the >> USA Halloween has become very commercial. There is nothing >> spiritual about it. > Thanks for your perspective; Wikipedia describes Halloween as a day of > celebration for Wiccans & other modern pagan traditions, but of course > no one can speak for all Wiccans / pagans (or all Christians / Jews etc). > Always worth bearing in mind. >> //Phil// >> P.S. And yes, I'm a Pagan. I have been "lurking" here for some >> time. Drop by my web page, www.mysteria.com to learn more. Loads >> of text files about metaphysical and occult topics. > I will - do you have anything on noachide laws / dominion theology etc? Nothing about that. My impression of these groups is they are small and obscure. I never heard of this before seeing it mentioned in this echo. It's interesting, but I think Moslem terrorists are a far greater threat. (In fact I sometimes wonder if Ben Laden is the anti-christ.) > Thanks for posting, & I hope you have found "lurking" to be of some use > or interest - my initial response to people talking about things like the > rise of the antichrist (etc) was to dismiss it as rubbish, but over time > I started to connect the dots for myself, as best as I could. It's an interesting echo with interesting points of view that bear watching. (It's also one of the few Fido echos I get get that has regular traffic in it, grin.) //Phil// --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Mysteria * mysteria.com * 626-355-5347 (1:102/943) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 102/943 379/1 396/45 106/2000 633/267 |
