BK>> Welfare is a federal/state/county operation.
Are you denying welfare is federal/state/county? If so, you know
nothing about the subject.
BK>> And rich financial slackers do vastly more damage to this
BK>> country.
Are you denying the financial collapse was caused by the major
investment firms? Are you claiming workers at the local
supermarket caused it?
Your financial sector managed to run the value of derivatives up
to some 5 or 6 times the value of the entire world's economy.
It's collapse guaranteed worldwide economic hardship. All the
welfare ever paid in this country doesn't even touch that.
Your financial sector ran up the real estate bubble, not the
democrats, not even the federal government, your financial
sector. That is what triggered much of our economic disaster,
which pushed up the welfare rolls.
Yes, your financial sector speculators and get rich quick
schemers, and I mean in your sector, not the ones on the radio,
are the ones who did more damage to this country than welfare
ever did.
Where were you when this was happening? Were you warning that
the market was overpriced? Did you warn about the stock market
being over priced?
Back in the late 90s I posted messages about the dot-com boom,
warning that it was all thin air. The right wingers hooted about
that. Then the dot-com bubble burst. Were you one of the owls
hooting away?
I warned back then that the stock market was overpriced. The
right hooted at that. Some of the Owls said the market *can't*
crash, they said the rules have changed. Guess what, the market
did crash. Did you support me on my claim that it could crash,
and the rules don't change? Or were you an Owl?
I do recall discussing this with you in late 2007. You were
talking about how wonderful the economy was, and I went deep
into the real unemployment rate, the national debt, and the debt
as percent of GDP. Funny, now your side is attacking Obama over
those very things. You told me how wonderful the economy was in
the very month when the country went into recession.
Do I have to go back and search my archives on this? Do I have
to pull up your comments on this? I was just going through some
of my old files, and found I had written a program to pull out
messages from individuals out of my archives. I can put your
name into it, and whatever echos I am interested in, and pull
out all your messages from you in the period of interest.
Since you like to talk about me, but not too me, like a back
yard gossip, I might just do that, post old messages from you
where you are shown to be badly wrong on the topic you are
talking about. Should I do that?
BK>> Since welfare is a republican benefit, there is much more of it
BK>> under republicans, you explain it.
JB> He truly believes this nonsense.
If you don't you speak from ignorance. Look at the stats.
Welfare is a bit hard to track since it changes by inflation and
size of the population. However, welfare is directly linked to
poverty and poverty is listed by percent of population. Go look
at it. It's not that hard to find, go to the census bureau and
look at that Statistical Abstract of the US.
Family poverty in 1959 ran 18.5%. By 1970 the democratic war on
poverty had pushed it down to 10.1%. I do give credit to Nixon
and Ford for consinuing many of those policies which kep the
rate falling till it bottomed out at 9.1% under Carter. The Arab
Oil Embargo did push it up a bit, but that was long over when it
hit 12.3% in Reagan's term, and stayed over 10% until Clinton
managed to bring it back down and even further to 8.7%. From
there it's been all up again, hitting 10.2% under BushII, and by
2007, the last year in the Stat Ab, still nearly 10%, at the
best under Bush's so called recovery.
I don't have more recent numbers, but you can be sure poverty is
up in the Bush Recession II.
Yes, welfare is a republican tool. Keep some people poor to pull
down the wages of others.
