subject: Answering machine on Node

Hello Marc!

09 Apr 04 21:35, you wrote to Thom LaCosta:

Marc lets step back and examine this..

What I am about to say is pertinent to my setup, I cannot speak for Thoms,
as his may not be the case, but I do know that many sysops have chosen a
similiar setup.

I know longer have a separate physical data line for my mailer, like I used
to.. With only one data call a day, the cost of maintaining it was no
longer justifiable.

Instead I use my voice line with a distinctive Ring phone number, used in
conjunction with a piece of equipment that routes the call to the modem if
a particular ring pattern is detected.

I also have voice mail with the phone company that kicks in after 6 rings.

If for whatever reason the mailer machine doesnt answer the call, guess
what, you would get my voice mail..

I am not saying this setup is what Thom has..
