subject: Rejected Email Confirmations

>> there was no email sent from my system... my SMTP engine
 >> responded to his wi a 551 error code...

JD> And that is sent via email right?

no... not at all... the remove SMTP server attempts to connect to the
destination server... the destination server will return a series of coded
responses similar to what one sees when they manually FTP or even use the
WEB and get a 400 response...

JD> It is what the error code says that we are referring to.

yes, i know this... the 551, however, means only one thing and that's right
close to what a 550 means... the actual text is not really relevent except
in shituations like this where someone (who normally has a pretty tough
skin) has taken offense at it... i can't help that his system generated an
email to him with that message in it... i only know that my system did
not...

JD> It could create a viscious
JD> circle by the receiver returning that in spades, and thus
JD> getting another 551 back. You see what I mean?
