World Wide Web Conference (fwd)
In light of our recent discussions aboutReal Audio Broadcasts of our
National conventions I thought this would be of interest here. And not
just for the Real Audio and Real Video Broadcasts of this particuler
conference but because of the need to ensure that sites on the Web remain
accessible to the blind. Enjoy and let your hearts be your guide.
Yours truly,
Peter donahue

Subject: Following Portions of the 1997 World Wide Web Conference
I'm sure that many folks would like to be attending this years WWW
conference since the theme is "Accessibility". For those not able to
attend, it is possible to follow some portions of the conference using Real
Audio and Real Video
The conference hosts have made two special arrangements: 1) the M-Bone
which provides multicasting in Real Audio and Real Video and 2) the Pat and
Mike WWW Radio Show.
The urls for both these services are as follows:
M-Bone: http://www6conf.slac.stanford.edu/multicast/realvideo.html
Pat and Mike: http://www.audionet.com/shows/pat&mike/www6.html
One event that I hope many of you will be able to view or listen to is the
opening plenary session given by Mr. Tom Kalil, who is currently a senior
director to the National Economic Council with responsibility for science
and technology issues. The NEC is a White House organization created by
President Clinton to coordinate economic policy. In addition to his role in
shaping the Administration's national information
infrastructure agenda, he is also the U.S. National Coordinator for the G-7
Global Information Society pilot projects.
Tom will speak on new White House initiatives to expand access to the World
Wide Web, particularly for persons with disabilities and K-12 students.
For more information about the conference and all the wonderfully planned
accessibility sessions, please refer to the conference home page at:

Many thanks to Neil Scott and Jan McKinley for their hard work in pulling
this together.
Regards,
Mike Paciello
