 Derek,  have you ever though of having a letter forwarded through what ever 
organization that found your birth mother..  It is possible that she just 
wasn't sure what your reaction was going to be after all these years and it 
was too hard for her to face meeting you in person or hearing your voice on 
the telephone.  It could help if you where able to get a letter to her that 
would describe how you feel, then leave your phone # with her and leave it up 
to her to call YOU!!  I understand how you could feel dissapointed/hurt that 
you where given up for adoption before you where born but you have to look on 
the brite side that instead of deciding to give to to someone who was able to 
take better care of you (For whatever reason she had) she could have had an 
abortion (and if I where you I would love her dearly for that sacrifice.)
